The South African Police Service hereby invites unemployed youth who conform to the requirements for a twelve-month internship programme at Northern Cape: Corporate Support. The internship programme is part of the National Human Resource Development Strategy and the National Skills Development Strategy.

Requirements

Must be between ages 18 – 35
Be a South African citizen
Must be in possession of Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
Must have no criminal record(s)
Applicants must be unemployed, was never employed in field of the post and never participated in an internship programme in the relevant field of the post previously
Applicants must be residents of the province where the post is advertised (proof of residential address to be attached)
Applicants are restricted to apply for 3 positions only (to complete an application for each ref number)
Intern categories: Graduate Intern: Tertiary Qualification is required

Student Intern: Need practical experience in order to finalise qualification Intern: Senior Certificate (Grade 12) no tertiary qualification is required.

First time university entrants:

  • Matric exemption/ endorsement/ bachelor degree admission
  • Achieved a minimum of 60%/ level 4 (Standard Grade) OR 50% (Higher Grade) in Matric for subject you intend on specialising to teach
  • If intending on specialising in Foundation Phase – must have passed Matric Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy AND a minimum of 60%/ level 4 (Standard Grade) OR 50% (Higher Grade) for your Home Language
  • If intending on specialising in Technology subjects (including CAT) – must have passed Matric Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
  • If completed Matric before 2008 when Mathematics was not a compulsory subject – must have achieved a minimum average of 50%

Students currently at university:

  • Passed all subjects in last year of tertiary study
  • Achieved a minimum average of 55% for all subjects studied in last year of tertiary study
  • Achieved a minimum average of 55% for subjects related to the teaching area of specialisation in last year of tertiary study

New students enrolling for PGCE:

  • Completed a qualification that allows admission into PGCE
  • For PGCE Foundation Phase Teaching – must have majored in an African Language and Psychology
  • For PGCE Intermediate Phase, Senior Phase, Further Education and Training Teaching – must have majored in chosen area of specialisation from the B. degree
  • Have a minimum of 2 selected priority subjects at 2nd year of study
  • Have enough subjects in the selected priority subjects to qualify to teach at school

Current bursars:

  • Achieved a minimum average of 50% across all subjects
  • Passed a minimum of two-thirds of subjects studied in the most recent year of university study
  • Passed a minimum of two-thirds of priority subjects in the most recent year of Higher Education study
  • If doing 1 priority subject – must have passed the subject
  • Progressing to the next year of study

Note: if the university requirements are higher than the Funza Lushaka Bursary requirements, the higher requirement will apply.

DUTIES : Assistance the REIRS unit with coordination and execution of GIS activities related to Asset Verification, validation and data cleansing of Asset attribute data and to assist with the Coastal reserves research and land surveying project, Verify documents or information through Deeds Search with Deeds Office, Surveyor – General, Lapsis (Housing Development Agency website) and Municipalities, Confirming ownership of properties in ensuring that correct and accurate property information is captured on IAR as well with the property that are on Provincial IAR – reflected on Deeds web, Perform such other duties, appropriate to the role, as may be required by the Assistant Director and Deputy Director, IA R Physical Verification Desktop planning, Maintain GIS databases, and use GIS software to analyse the spatial and non – spatial information in them, Digitizing building footprints, measuring building extent, and creating virtual sites and merged properties on Quantum Geographic Information Systems (QGIS) application for physical verification purpose, Entering various types of data into GIS databases, such as text or spreadsheet files of latitude and longitude coordinates, tabular data, aerial or satellite imagery, and manual digitizing of map images with the assistance of the GIS ASD, Support Fieldworkers with physical verification queries and challenges with the Mobile App and distribute properties for fieldwork purpose. The facilitation and maintenance of the database using structured query language (SQL) – These items will be done with the assistance / monitoring of the ASD GIS or DD Data and Systems, Extract or deploy Building, Site, Facility and components reports on the database using SQL Script, required by the DD, and Director or the unit (REIRS), Generate shape files and update the GIS database using Oracle Map builder , Mapping and data loading, Optimise geographic technologies to produce user driven products analysis and informatics.
