ABOUT THE COMPANY – PPC

PPC Ltd, a top southern African supplier of cement and related products, was formed in 1892 as “De Eerste Cement Fabrieken Beperkt”. The company has a production capacity of approximately 11.5 million tonnes of cement products each year and has produced cement for numerous construction projects and famous landmarks within the country.

The company has 11 cement factories throughout South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Rwanda, Ethiopia and the DRC. PPC involvement within the readymix sector now boasts 26 batching plants across in Mozambique and South Africa. What more, the company also has the biggest aggregate production capacity in the country, at their Gauteng based Mooiplaas aggregates quarry. PPC Lime, also part of the PPC group, is amoung the biggest producers of lime in the southern hemisphere.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & SERVICE CONTRACT

The PPC bursary is a full bursary, providing coverage for all study related expenses. Bursaries will be awarded to students within the following Mining related fields of study:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Mine Survey
  • Metallurgy
  • Geology

Once students have graduated, they will be required to work for PPC (depending on availability within the company) for an equal duration of time as the bursary awarded.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

South African Reserve Bank Bursary South Africa 2018 – 2019

ABOUT THE COMPANY – SARB

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is South Africa’s central bank, whose main purpose is to maintain price stability for sustainable economic growth within the country. SARB was established in the year 1921 after the passing of the “Currency and Bank Act of 10 August 1920” in Parliament. Before the Bank was established, South African commercial banks issued banknotes to the public.

The SARB are responsible for the following: ensuring that the banking, money and financial system in South Africa achieves the community requirements and keeps up to date with international developments, as well as helping the government (and other economic community members) of South Africa with data for macroeconomic policy, and lastly to provide the South African community and international stakeholders with feedback regarding the countries monetary policy and economic standing.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE & SERVICE CONTRACT

Bursaries will be awarded within Commerce related fields of study, particularly the following:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Business Science
  • Actuarial Science
  • Law

The bursary will cover study related expenses up to a maximum of R95 000 per annum.
Students will be able to take part in vacation work (based on availability within the company).

On completion of their qualification, students will be required to work at SARB within the Graduate Development Program, for the period of time equal to their bursary awarded.

City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services Bursary South Africa 2018 – 2019

ABOUT THE BURSAR

The Emergency Management Services (EMS) are a vital part of any city – the Johannesburg EMS are the organisation that residents turn to in cases of emergency. The City of Johannesburg EMS include emergency and firefighting staff who attend to around 250 000 calls per year, to help save lives and property.

The EMS have 28 base stations, Johannesburg being one of the largest emergency services units in Africa.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The City of Johannesburg EMS are offering 30 bursary award programmes to students who will be the future emergency staff.

The bursary will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students, studying in one of the following fields: National Diploma: Fire Technology OR Bachelors Degree: Emergency Medical Care.

The bursary award covers tuition fees, registration fees, prescribed textbooks and or study materials.

ELIGIBILITY

What will you do?

  • Preparation of the audit plan and management of the prepared plan to ensure that all the departments involved in the audit of the fund complies with the audit plan.
  • Complete year-ends on MIP within one month after financial statements are submitted to the FSB
  • Interact with various departmental managers across the business to ensure timely delivery or required audit plan information
  • Assistance with the queries raised by the actuaries, auditors, trustees and audit committee members of the funds
  • Preparation of audit committee meeting and trustee meeting information to be included in the packs
  • Reduction in internal and external audit findings over time
  • General assistance to the Fund Financial Manager where necessary

Qualification & experience

  • B Com with Accounting III as major in final year
  • B Com Honours and CTA would be an advantage
